Sporting Columbus brings women's team to OVPL 2022

The newest women’s club to commit to playing in the Ohio Valley Premier League (OVPL) is Sporting Columbus. Established in 2018, Sporting Columbus is a premier club serving central Ohio in the capital city of Columbus.

An official member of The Crew Network since Sporting Columbus was founded in 2018, the Club is connected to serve as a pathway from youth-to-pro. With the addition of a senior team for Sporting Columbus, they can further serve their players by providing an opportunity to keep playing once they have aged out of youth soccer and graduated from high school. Led by Jeffrey Warren, Dave Merrick, and Geoff Starks, the Sporting Columbus leadership staff has worked together for over 20 years developing players in Central Ohio.

“Since the Club’s incarnation in 2018, Sporting Columbus has cemented its status as a cornerstone in developing soccer players in Central Ohio. Our membership in the OVPL highlights our commitment to our girls’ program in extending our development pathway with the addition of a Sporting Columbus U23 OVPL Women’s team. We are very excited to continue developmental opportunities for amateur players and the OVPL provides a very high standard for our promising senior club players, current collegiate and or ex-collegiate players” says Marc Miriello, Sporting Columbus U23 OVPL Women’s head coach.
