Lexington Landsharks announce membership to OVPL for 2020!
There's a new I-65 rivalry coming to the Ohio Valley!
November 21, 2019
The Lexington Landsharks are the third Founding Member club to commit to playing in the inaugural 2020 season of the Ohio Valley Premier League (OVPL). The Landsharks are led by the Head of Operations Jimmy Rue, Head of Coaching and Player Development Mike Donnelly, and the Director of Marketing and Player Relations Daniel David. As a club, the Landsharks build from an extremely local player pool that brings pride to the city of Lexington.
With their entry into the OVPL, the Landsharks could be the first team to ever play in the US Open Cup from Lexington and the first team ever in the modern era of the Cup (1994) that comes from an open division in the state of Kentucky. It has been since 1993 since an amateur team from Kentucky has won a match in the US Open Cup. The Louisville Soccer Alliance has long been the lone entrant from the Bluegrass State.
Through the year, the Landsharks train at Next Level Lexington. During the OVPL, home matches will be at the Transylvania Athletic Complex.
